Our Process

  1. West Salem Tax sends out Organizers with Engagement Letter- Via Mail, Email or will call for pickup, by the 1st week of January.
  2. Client returns signed engagement letter, filled out organizer with tax documents. Either by drop off during office hours, using the door slot or upload electronically. Please update us right away of any changes or new forms received. 
  3. Multiple year clients and occasionally new clients we will request a retainer in advance.
  4. Tax return preparation begins. We will send emails or request additional information if needed.
  5. CPA reviews and approves tax return, or requests additional information if needed.
  6. Sent to Assembly to prepare hard copy.
  7. We will call you to let you know your hard copy is ready for pick up.
  8. When you come in to pick up, we expect payment at that time. We usually have you sign the form 8879 at time of pickup and we will wait a couple days before we file your return in the event there is any changes needed, that way it saves you coming back in with the form.
  9. We can email your returns, please arrange in advance.
  10. Once we receive the form 8879 and payment we will file the return. 

Tax Due Dates

31-Dec: Required minimum distributions have to be taken for individuals age 73 prior to 2024.

15-Jan: 4th quarter 2024 estimated tax payment due.

29-Jan: Tax season begins. IRS will begin accepting and processing 2024 federal tax returns.

31-Jan: Due date for employers to send W-2 forms and certain 1099s

15-Mar: Partnership & S Corps Due Date; or Extension must be filed to extend until Sept 15th.

1-Apr: Required minimum distribution due if you turned 73 in 2024

15-Apr: TAX DAY! Must File 2024 Tax or request an extension

15-Apr: Tax Payment is due on April 15th. Regardless if extension was filed. Penalties will acrue.

15-Apr: Last day to file & still get refund for 2021

16-Apr: Last day to electronically file 2021 and to receive refund for 2021.

15-Apr: Deadline to make IRA and HSA contributions for 2024 tax year.

15-Apr: 1st quarter 2025 estimated tax payment due.

16-Jun: 2nd quarter 2025 estimated tax payment due.

15-Sep: 3rd quarter 2025 estimated tax payment due.

15-Sep: Deadline for extended partnership and S-corporation returns             

15-Oct: Deadline to file your 1040 individual extended and C-Corporations 2024 tax return.: 3rd quarter 2025 estimated tax payment due.

15-Sep: Deadline for extended partnership and S-corporation returns

15-Oct: Deadline to file your 1040 individual extended and C-Corporations 2024 tax return.
