List of Year End Items Needed

Here is a list of the items we would want to see to get going on your tax returns or bookkeeping projects. 

For Your 1st Appointment:

  1. For Tax Clients: Please bring a copy of your last tax return filed. And any source documents needed for the tax years you are enquiring about.
  2. For Bookkeeping & Accounting: Please bring a copy of your P&L, or QuickBooks login, for the years you are enquiring about. 

For New Clients:

  1. Copy of last year tax return file.
  2. Depreciation schedule (if you had Depreciation, not all tax accountants provide this, you may have to request. It will show a list of all items that were depreciated, date placed in service, and amount of Depreciation taken.
  3. Date of Births of everyone (usually it is on Oregon Return, but if you are from another state).
  4. Name & SS of dependents and months they were dependents, and how they are related.
  5. Identification: Drivers License or Passport.

For All Clients:

  1. Signed Engagement Letter, and completed Organizer.
  2. W2s.
  3. All 1099s received.
  4. Estimated payments Quarterlies paid, if any?
  5. If you want DD, Please provide Routing number and Account number. 
  6. 1098 mortgage interest statement & Property tax paid.
  7. 1099 Tuition statement, or education interest expense. 
  8. Interest income.
  9. Rental income & expenses with Depreciation Schedule. 
  10. Sale of Home Date and Amount Purchased, and Sold- Final Settlement Statements are optimal, for we can often find additional deductios. 

If You Have a Business….

  1. Indicate type of entity & if we did not complete for you last year, then please provide copy of last return filed.
  2. Profit & Loss or Summary of income, Cost of Goods & expenses (on spreadsheet or QuickBooks).
  3. Depreciation schedule (if you had Depreciation) not all tax accountants provide this, you may have to request. It will show a list of all items that were depreciated, date placed in service, and amount of depreciation already taken. (We will have it already if we completed last year.)
  4. Business Mileage & total mileage.
  5. Current Quickbooks back up file with login credentials, or spread sheet.
  6. Bank statements for December.
  7. Bank Loan statements through 12/31 including balance and interest paid.
  8. Any new assets purchased of $1000 or more and how they were financed. If not on P&L.
  9. Payroll Quarterly reports- 941s, L&I, ESD, and 940s.
  10. W2s & W3s.
  11. History of Payroll tax deposits paid to US Treasury.
  12. DOR Excise tax returns- All.
  13. All 1099K Merchant payments received.
  14. All 1099s received & sent out.
  15. Home office Square footage VS Total square footage.
  16. Home office Expenses- utilities, mortgage, property taxes, repairs and maintenance.
  17. City Tax returns filed or paid.
  18. Any work completed out of state and payroll reports for them.
  19. If PTE-E Election was made. And all estimates that were paid.
  20. If Over $1mill in Revenue. Estimated CAT Tax Payments.
  21. If Portland Metro Tax or Multnomah Tax is applicable, please let us know & indicate amount of revenue for each.
